49ers’ Eric Reid joins Colin Kaepernick’s protest
This is Kaepernick’s fourth time refusing to stand during the National Anthem; however, Colin is now facing new scrutiny following Thursday night’s boycott.

Colin Kaepernick didn’t change his stance during the San Francisco 49ers’ Thursday night game against the San Diego Chargers, even though it was the Chargers’ 28th annual Salute to the Military event. I have to help these communities.
“Those conversations are important to have because the better we understand each other, the better we know each other, the better we can deal and communicate with each other which ultimately makes everyone, puts everybody in a better position”.
Standing to the right of Kaepernick in the photo above (his left) is Nate Boyer, a former Green Beret who is attempting to become an National Football League long snapper. According to a press release from the team, commemorations of the military will take place both before and during the game. “As we talked about it, we came up with taking a knee, because there are issues that still need to be addressed”.
Rep. Duncan D. Hunter, an ex-Marine who represents San Diego’s East County area in Congress, said on the ESPN/ABC podcast, “Capital Games” that Kaepernick “probably fits in very well in San Francisco”, referring to the city’s more liberal bent.
On Thursday, Seahawks cornerback Lane, 26, followed Kaepernick’s example when he didn’t stand up for the national anthem during a game in Oakland, California.
In contrast, during the singing of “God Bless America”, Kaepernick stood and applauded.
“He approached me and said I support what you’re doing, I support what your message is”.
Vietnam veteran C.C. Long says Kaepernick is free to sit, stand or kneel because of vets who fought for that freedom.
“Yeah, I am prepared for it”, Lane said. “At this point, I think it will be taking a knee”. It’ll be interesting to see if this carries on into the 2016 regular season, but it seems as though Kaepernick, Reid and Lane will likely continue.
