49ers remove RB Hyde from active/non-football injury list

Hyde was one of four 49ers placed on the non-football injury list on Tuesday. It was thought in OTAs that Hyde was dealing with a strained calf.

Also placed on the NFI list for the 49ers were LB Aaron Lynch, RT Trent Brown, and WR DeAndre Smelter, while C Daniel Kilgore will start camp on the PUP list. “It’s not even a hamstring; it’s a muscle pull”, Niners coach Jim Tomsula said on May 29.

Players can be taken off NFI (or the physically-unable-to-perform list) and join practices this month once they’re medically cleared to do so. “You talk to our medical people, (at a) different time of the year, Carlos would be pushing through”.

Hyde is expected to get the bulk of the carries at running back in 2015 now that former 49ers running back Frank Gore is with the Colts.

The 49ers’ veterans report to training camp at the team’s Santa Clara, Calif., headquarters on Friday and begin practices on Saturday night at Levi’s Stadium.
