49ers to face coordinator who built their defense
Bowman is San Francisco’s leading tackler and the centerpiece of a fairly stout 3-4 run defense.

The San Francisco 49ers are one of the worst road defenses in the league and if Jay Cutler can keep throwing touchdowns, the Bears could make quick work of this matchup.
Gabbert planted his feet at the 49ers’ 22-yard line and sailed a spiralthat Smith caught in stride at the Bears’ 25-yard line. In the four games he has missed, the 49ers haven’t scored a rushing touchdown, while totaling only four receiving touchdowns. The 49ers offense has shown some signs of improvement under Blaine Gabbert.
Bruce Ellington’s role as the return specialist is in jeopardy after his second fumble in two games, special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey said.
Gabbert played hero on Sunday. “I think our whole team is kind of used to it and understands it. The reason they’re on the 53-man roster is we think they’re good enough”.
“It was set up by all the throws we had underneath early on in the game, all the runs we ran out of that formation”, Gabbert said of his walk-off touchdown pass. “It worked perfectly”.
The San Francisco 49ers head to Solider field, for a clash with the Chicago Bears.
Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and offensive coordinator Adam Gase interviewed for the 49ers’ head coaching job that went to Jim Tomsula following Jim Harbaugh’s departure after last season.
The 49ers’ coverage units are solid and haven’t allowed a return touchdown. Forte finished with 84 yards and Langford had 59, as the duo averaged 4.5 yards per carry on the afternoon. They aren’t big corners, so they will be challenged by the size, reach and wingspan of Bears receiver Alshon Jeffrey. This is a team that might have gotten a false impression of itself with the Thanksgiving victory at Green Bay. Jay Cutler should be able to go play-action and throw to the outside and also deep against a secondary that is 28th defending the pass. Short crossing routes over the middle aren’t as effective against San Francisco because of the strong 49er linebacker play, but play-action tosses using the tight ends can prove particularly effective. And the second-year center continues to be a liability in pass protection. The Niners have had trouble with their tackling, so be on the lookout for some big plays. The Bears have started 21 different players on offense. Being offensively challenged, they will have trouble trying to come back. Looking as though they were dead, the Bears have made a late season resurgence, and now sit at 5-6, one game out of a wildcard spot.
Oddsmakers from online sports book RealBet.eu have installed the Bears as a 7.5-point home favorite over the 49ers after Chicago opened as a 7-point favorite. The first step to being playoff contenders is to at least be at.500, and that needs to happen on Sunday.
They just have to keep wining.

The Bears, on the other hand, may have been a team that started the season 0-3, but they’ve bounced back.
