49ers, Washington leaders for CB Josh Norman
Cornerback Chris Culliver, who was signed to a four-year, $32 million contract last offseason, is scheduled to make $8 million this season. The free agent cornerback has agreed to terms on a contract with Washington. By all accounts, Norman is a hard worker, having built himself up from humble beginnings as a fifth-round draft pick, and at 28, he should be playing at his highest level.

Josh Norman might get his paycheck hike after all as two teams have been rumored to in a tug-of-war as two who would make the nicest offer that he could not refuse. The Redskins needed to add depth at cornerback. One of the franchises that has a strong chance of getting Norman to sign a contract is the San Francisco 49ers.
That young corner is rising star Bashaud Breeland. They recently signed veteran Greg Toler and re-signed Will Blackmon.
While both Washington and New Orleans could certainly use Norman’s services in 2016 and beyond, both NFC clubs will have to cut at least one player in the coming days to take on what Norman will command in National Football League free agency.
While Norman is older than you’d like as a free agent, the fact is he’s in his prime.
The Redskins need more of that kind of attitude and confidence particularly on defense.
Norman bothered opposing quarterbacks, too. He played a significant role for the NFC champions and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.
So much went right for Norman and the Panthers last season before losing to the Broncos in the Super Bowl. But I don’t think that’s true. When asked to explain the decision, Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said it became apparent the team wouldn’t be able to reach a long-term deal with Norman.
It was an expensive move for sure.
Norman and his representatives arrived at Redskins Park Friday.
