49ers will donate $1 million to Bay Area charities
Few NFL players, however, have generated as much buzz and outrage this year as San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

It’s not about the money here.
Over the past week, Kaepernick’s jersey has sold more than it had in the previous eight months combined, which obviously links its success to his refusal to stand during the National Anthem of a pre-season game.
Kaepernick, who has said he plans to take the protest “a step further”, said on Wednesday he has met and talked with different activists in communities around the country. Whether that changes anything remains to be seen. Without acknowledging Trump’s earlier comment that Kaepernick should “find another country”, he said that the Republican presidential nominee’s plans to prevent all Muslims from entering America is “ridiculous”. I have great respect for them. Seattle defensive back Jeremy Lane also joined in by sitting before his team’s game in Oakland last week.
“Discrimination is wrong, and we believe it has no place in North Carolina or anywhere in our country”, York said in a statement at the time.
Linebacker Danny Trevathan said then that, “I believe if you want to do it, you should do it -but you have to know what you stand for and give it what you got”.
The 49ers on Thursday pledged $1 million toward two Bay Area groups that address the type of social inequities and racial issues their quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, has spotlighted in recent weeks. “It’s a protest against oppression and injustices and the equality that’s not being given to all people”. He said he’s pleased his 49ers jersey has become the top seller in the National Football League since his protest became public.
“There’s been no movement in this country that has succeeded upon the heroism of any one individual, ” Brooks said, “but rather the loyal, committed, concerted and sustained action of a group of people”.
He writes that the increase in his jersey sales “shows the people’s belief that we can achieve justice and equality for ALL!” He’s the second-string quarterback once again behind Blaine Gabbert, and that, as anyone would agree to, is better than being out of an #NFL job with the 2016 season set to kick off this weekend.

The union lauded the mayor’s letter for clearing up a number of issues, including that officers are not required to work at 49ers games, but are there on a volunteer basis (and are paid as security personnel).
