The five people – the pilot, two skydive instructors, and two tandem jumpers – were believed to be part of a tour operated by SkyDive Kauai, The Associated Press reported. The names of the crash victims have not been released.

SkyDive Kauai President David Timko said he didn’t have any comment because the crash is under investigation.

Four people, the source said, were pronounced dead on the scene near Port Allen Airport and one died later at a local hospital. A small brush fire was ignited in the surrounding area, which was extinguished about an hour later, Kauai Fire Department officials said.

The small plane crashed during a skydiving tour just outside Port Allen Airport in Kauai at about 9.30am, the Kauai fire department said in a statement.

In the second crash, the small plane went down about 30 yards off the coast, the AP reports. One person was transported to a hospital where he later died. They were treated for bruises, Enright said.
