Syracuse, a program that hit its lowest point only a decade ago, is poised to accomplish something special: Starting a season 3-0 for the first time in almost 25 years.

Central Michigan sophomore running back Devon Spalding looks for room to run Saturday, September 12, 2015, during a 31-10 victory over Monmouth at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. “You just don’t see him make many bad throws”.

ABOUT CENTRAL MICHIGAN (1-1): The Chippewas hung tough against Oklahoma State in their season opener, leading in the second half before falling 24-13. Last year, the Orange took down the Chippewas 40-3 on the road. Dungey, a true freshman, was the backup and his removal called for third-stringer Austin Wilson to enter the game for the Orange.

This season, Rush is 53 of 77 for 553 yards passing with three TDs and two interceptions, and he’s completing 73 percent of his passes on second down and 71 percent on third down.

In Syracuse’s 30-17 win against Wake Forest last week, Orange fans were treated to two versions of Eric Dungey.

I thought Jahray did a nice job coming in.

The Chippewas had the ball first in overtime and converted a 20-yard field goal after gaining 23 yards on five plays, but they couldn’t stop the Orange’s ground game that went the distance culminating in Fredericks’ game-winning jaunt.

Senior tight end Ben McCord had 10 receptions for 147 yards and the game-tying 27-yard touchdown to end regulation.

Both Rush and McCord turned career-best numbers as the Chippewas rolled up 520 yards in total offense and gained 30 first downs.

“I’m looking forward to getting Tyrone Perkins caught up and being a good football player at that position as well”.

Syracuse’s Donnie Simmons, left, and Syracuse’s Corey Winfield, … They’ve played fast, aggressive, ball-hawking defense that has helped to set up their offense in good positions and allowed Dungey to capitalize with his arm as well as his legs.

Western Michigan scored 35 straight points – the last of which came on a 10-yard interception return for a touchdown by Darius Phillips – to open a 45-6 lead with 9:21 to play.
