5 people in custody after NYC bombing, source says
No cell phones or electronic timing devices were found on the devices, the mayor said.

NEW YORK – Three attacks carried out in the United States on a single day – a New York bombing, a Minnesota mass stabbing and a New Jersey pipe bomb blast – were under investigation on Sunday for potential terrorist links. Officials said the explosive in that device appeared to be black powder.
All trains going through Elizabeth station on both New Jersey Transit and Amtrak lines have been suspended, according to the respective transportation agencies. A law enforcement source told Fox News that a “number of individuals” who are possibly connected to the explosion were taken into custody. A personal motivation? What was it? The two officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about an ongoing investigation.
Investigators on Sunday sifted through blast remnants, examined video and scoured the scene of an explosion that wounded 29 people in Manhattan, attempting to establish if there were any links to global terrorism.
Reacting to the explosion Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, said: “It’s a awful thing what’s going on in our world, what’s going on in our country, but we are going to get tough and smart and vigilant and we are going to end it”.
A second device was found four blocks away on West 27th Street.
The first device, which exploded on West 23rd Street at about 8:30 p.m., appeared to have been caused by an improvised explosive device placed inside a toolbox in front of a building undergoing construction, the law enforcement official said.
In the video, the man leaves the duffel bag where police later found the unexploded pressure cooker.
President Obama has been briefed on the situation, according to a White House official.
A mystery caller telephoned police hours after a series of bombs were found in Manhattan to warn that there would be more attacks, a local newspaper has reported. A forensic examination of the device and its components will be conducted at the FBI Laboratory at Quantico, Virginia. He rushed to see what had happened and found a chaotic scene. “We’ll look at social networks, at all the incoming tips and leads”. The bomb that exploded was filled with small bearings or metal BBs. “A few friends of mine saw glass there”. It’s tiny bars, where you go to grab a drink, grab a bite to eat, watch a film. Experts said a large amount would be required to create a blast like the one Saturday night, as well as an accelerant or other igniter.
“All I saw was a big light, and then I heard the explosion”, he told CNN.”I could feel it in my chest”.
NY police, the FBI and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives converged on the site for their first daylight view of the site of the explosion, cordoning it off and placing dozens of evidence markers on the ground.
NY is especially busy with hundreds of world leaders and dignitaries visiting this week for the U.N. General Assembly.
The mayor and the governor both promised that New Yorkers would not be cowed and that apart from the street closures, life would continue as normal.
“We are in the middle of a very complex post-blast investigation”, O’Neill said.
The increased policing, Cuomo said, is “just to err on the side of caution”.

“We receive great cooperation and appreciate the support from the federal authorities and the NYPD throughout the year, and especially during the General Assembly to keep staff, delegates and visitors safe”, Dujarric told the AP.
