Austin Police chief of staff Brian Manley said officers received reports of gunshots in the crowded entertainment area shortly after 2am local time.

The suspect who opened fire in the parking garage was transported to a hospital for injuries he suffered when bystanders subdued him, Manley said. The suspect fired into a crowd on 6th Street, police said, adding that it is unknown if the shooter had a connection with any of the victims.
After further investigation, says Chief Manley, neither of the isolated shootings were the work of an “active shooter”, as previously mentioned. The first shooting happened on East 6th Street at around quarter past two in the morning, with people running for safety when someone began firing into a crowd after a disturbance.
The gunman is still at large, police said as they appealed for any video footage of the incident and its aftermath. He was then transported to a local hospital.
That suspect was taken to the hospital.
The woman who was killed is believed to be in her 20s, and the other three injured victims are in their 30s. It was not immediately clear how many people were shot.
Police said they are investigating separate shooting scenes in the same area of downtown Austin, but that all scenes are secure.
Both Austin shootings left a total of 1 person dead and five injured others.
Officials say there have been separate shooting incidents in downtown Austin and there are multiple victims.
Police are still looking for the shooter.
