5 takeaways from election results for Super Tuesday and who won
Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton have scored early primary wins in Georgia, CNN projects, as the two presidential front-runners looked to take command of their party nominating battles on the campaign’s biggest night of voting.

He didn’t win the most states, but Texas Senator Ted Cruz is a Republican Super Tuesday victor…Taking not just his home state but Oklahoma.
But after the New Hampshire bruising, he rebounded, doing well in debates and coming in second in the SC primary and Nevada caucus.
Rubio’s best opportunity to win his first state this election cycle was dashed when Trump was declared the victor in Virginia. And so far, he has only lost in three states – Texas and Oklahoma to Ted Cruz, and Minnesota to Rubio.
After a string of wins in the Super Tuesday primaries, Trump, at a press conference in Florida, claimed that he is on his way to win the party’s presidential nominee as he is way ahead of the other candidates.
Clinton’s victories, particularly in southern states, resulted in part from her stong support among African-American voters. Winning those states could boost Trump to a commanding lead in the delegate count, but Florida is Rubio’s home state and OH is home for John Kasich, the state’s governor.
“Here is perceived reality, and you tell me if you differ with it. The Republican establishment does not like you that much”, Rose said.
“My campaign was not built the way his was, on arguing that Super Tuesday was my firewall”, he said. The narrow loss in MA has to sting – he had a demographic and geographic advantage in the Bay State – but all things considered, Super Tuesday was hardly a disaster for the independent lawmaker.
“When we’re done here in Florida, we’ll win Florida, and we’ll win other winner-take-all states”, Rubio said.
There are 595 Republican delegates at stake in 11 states. If Trump had a big day March 15 and then won by even a little afterward, say by a margin as small as 3 percentage points, he would probably end with a majority of delegates – enough to avoid a contested convention.
It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination for president.
Cruz won in 24 of the state’s 40 legislative districts.
“Once we get all of this finished, I’m going to go after one person, that’s Hillary Clinton, on the assumption she’s allowed to run, which is a big assumption”.

In spite of recent controversial statements on white supremacists and nasty exchanges at the most recent Republican debate, Trump continues to lead the GOP field.
