5 takeaways from the 11th Republican presidential debate

“Donald Trump’s big win on Super Tuesday has made it clear that he is the likely nominee of the Republican party, and that has sent the Republican establishment into a deep, deep panic”, Colbert said Thursday. Marco Rubio had this to say about businessman Donald Trump: “You know what they say about men with small hands?”

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has launched a scathing attack on party frontrunner Donald Trump in a bid to derail his race for office.

Trump also hit rival Marco Rubio, who went after the businessman with gusto on the debate stage.

“Look at these hands”, Trump said, flashing his two hands to the crowd. “If they are small, something else must be small. I could have said, ‘Mitt, drop to your knees.’ He would’ve dropped to his knees”, Trump said.

“I’m not running for president, and I won’t run for president”, Romney said.

Mr Rubio pressed Mr Trump on the foreign workers he has imported to work at his Palm Beach resort, jobs he said could go to Americans. In his speech, Romney encouraged Republicans to vote for the candidate expected to perform best in each state, such as Ohio Gov. John Kasich in Ohio and Sen.

Cruz, too, took the fight to Trump, saying that while it’s easy to print campaign slogans on baseball caps, as Trump does, the question is whether Trump understands what made America great in the first place.

When asked about the timing of Thursday’s speech, Romney said he simply “couldn’t stand silent anymore” as the GOP race reached a “new low in presidential politics”.

Cruz joined in to highlight Trump’s support of liberal Democrats in previous elections.

Mr Trump said the workers were for a short November-to-March season.

Rubio chimed in, “When they’re done with the yoga, can I answer a question?”

Romney is the latest in a string of high-profile Republicans seeking to prevent Trump from becoming the GOP’s candidate.

“He’s trying to con people into giving him their vote just as he conned those people”, Rubio said.

“There are no circumstances I can foresee where that would possibly happen”, Romney said.

He hurled other slurs at Trump, calling the NY billionaire a “bully”, misogynist, accusing him of “absurd third-grade theatrics”, and adding: “Imagine your children and your grandchildren acting the way he does”. It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination for president.
