5 takeaways from Tottenham’s thrashing of Inter Milan

Dele Alli was delighted to get back to business with Tottenham as the 20-year-old made his first appearance of pre-season in their 6-1 victory over Inter Milan.

Pochettino’s new signing Victor Janssen also got on the score sheet, scoring Tottenham’s fifth of the game.

Soon afterwards, Kane hit the post with a header but he was celebrating his second goal of the afternoon two minutes later when he received a pass from Lamela before rifling the ball into the far corner from 16 yards. You know what you’re going to get with him.

It was all Spurs in the second half, and the first of four goals came seven minutes after the restart with a great strike from Alli, playing a one-two with half-time substitute Janssen, before firing home from the edge of the box. “He scored a goal, and for mine I just played it to him, he laid it off and I put it in the back of the net”, Alli told Sky Sports.

With eight days remaining until Pochettino takes his side to Goodison Park, the former Espanyol and Southampton boss was keen to highlight the importance of ending pre-season in a positive manner claiming “it was important to finish our pre-season in a positive way…and important to win”. So what did we learn from the game? The youngest member of the starting lineup, Alli is set to play another major role as they plan to make that dream a reality once again.

Spurs striker Kane’s first goal – a controversial penalty – was levelled by Ivan Perisic, but a brilliant long-range effort from Erik Lamela had Mauricio Pochettino’s men ahead at the break.
