The Salvation Army says the toys not only bring the children happiness, but bring peace of mind to many parents as well. “It’s our way to give back, one full day to serve our people here in the Valley”. As we head into the busy season you’ll hear the bells ringing for the Red Kettles and see the Angel Trees at area businesses. “It feels awesome – just knowing that there are actually people out there that are willing to help people that don’t have means to make ends meet more or less – living paycheck to paycheck”.
“People that can’t get out, either because of the snow or just physical elements, or people that just don’t want to get out because of whatever reason – we’re just going to deliver to them”, Aird said. “We open it up for people that don’t have a family to go to for Thanksgiving and we invite all people to come be apart of the family of the Salvation Army”, said Redmond.
“Unfortunately, there are more families in need”, explained Lieutenant Peter Kim with the Salvation Army.
Along with the special meal delivery, they also received a bouquet of flowers from Mayfield Florist.
Steele added that previous year $131.000 was raised in Clarksville for the Salvation Army and the goal for this holiday season is $200,000.
Clement went through culinary school and is supposed to be retired says she loves cooking and putting a smile on people’s faces. They said they’re already talking about expanding the dinner for next year.
Locally, the Wausau Salvation Army has 28 locations spread out throughout the city.

The Brazos Valley Food Bank is also in need of volunteers on weekdays during normal business hours.
