– A 5-year-old boy died Sunday afternoon after being struck by lightning on Carova Beach in Currituck County. The incident happened at Carova Beach, according to WTKR-TV.

“We attempted to resuscitate him at the scene and en route to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, and he ultimately did not survive”, Melton said.
According to Chief Melton, the child was a tourist visiting the beach with his family.
The family put the boy in their auto and met emergency crews halfway, where he was transported to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital and died a short time later. The boy was rushed to the hospital where officials said he succumbed to his injuries.
