5-year-old has safety pin stuck in nose for 6 months

Khloe had somehow stuck a safety pin in her nose.

Katelyn took her daughter to three different doctors to try and sort the problem – all three thought it was a sinus problem and prescribed antibiotics.

Her mum Katelyn Powell said three doctors diagnosed her daughter with a sinus infection. “I hope people can understand that this can happen to their children and that it doesn’t make their children stupid for doing it or not saying anything after”. When Khloe blew her nose, a 1.5-inch-long safety pin “popped out”, her mother said.

“We were horrified. I was like, ‘Did you put this up there?’. It was bigger than her nose”, said Powell.

Khloe Russell had spent months walking around with a runny nose.

Khloe Russell was constantly being affected by the condition, having to stop nearly every five minutes to blow her nose.

Katelyn added: ‘It was a huge object.

The panicked mother even took her daughter to the dentist, afraid that a problem with her teeth was causing the nasty discharge.

After six months inside the girl’s nose, the pin had turned black and had also started disintegrating.

The mystery behind a Southern California 5-year-old’s illness ended when she blew out a safety pin from her nose that had been up there for six months.

The family said they weren’t mad at doctors who were unable to see the pin with a scope, instead, Ms Powell is relieved they found the source. “All the doctors looked up her nose but didn’t see anything”, Khloe’s mum continued.

She has been feeling better since it came out and a recent check-up did not reveal any lasting diseases or infection.
