5-year-old trick-or-treater struck, killed by auto in north Minneapolis

Minneapolis police say a 5-year-old boy who was trick-or-treating on Halloween has died after he was struck by a auto while crossing a street. Officers responding to the scene found the boy in critical condition after he was trapped under the auto, according to police.

The boy was run over shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday along Victory Memorial Parkway in north Minneapolis.

– A 5-year-old boy was killed while trick-or-treating near Memorial Parkway and Knox Ave North in Minneapolis after he was hit by a vehicle on Saturday night.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says Laureano-Uriza “died of multiple blunt force injuries”.

Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said the boy was with adults at the time he was struck.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash and the driver is cooperating with investigators.
