50 pounds of marijuana shipped to wrong New Jersey address

So, police took possession of several boxes to try to figure out to whom the packages should have been delivered.

Police opened the boxes, “looking for a packing list which would contain information on the addressee” and were surprised to find 50 pounds of marijuana. Instead, they found 31 sealed bags of marijuana weighing a total of 50 pounds.

The packages were addressed to someone who did not live there, the Hazlet Township Police Department described in a post on Facebook.

As expected, an investigation into this incident is now ongoing.

Hazlet Township Police announced Thursday morning that – thanks to a wary homeowner – officers had intercepted a 50-pound shipment of professionally-packed marijuana on Tuesday. Police said the person who it was intended for is more than welcome to come to police headquarters to claim the drugs.

No matter which state you’re in – with marijuana being legal to purchase in four states – mailing marijuana across state lines is a federal offense.

Police are offering the person who sent 50 pounds of marijuana to the wrong address to claim
