$500-Million Dollar Powerball Jackpot
The odds of winning the top prize are slim – roughly 1 in 292 million – but chances are slightly better to win prizes ranging from $4 to $2 million with odds of 1 in roughly 25. When asked what he would do with the money, Johnson told WJTV, “I would give the church some money and take care of my family”. The bad news is Alabama is one of eight states -Mississippi, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, Alaska, Hawaii and California are the others – that don’t play Powerball so you will have to do some driving to get your ticket. Many of those tickets are worth between $1 and $5, but some folks never realize that they have a life-changing prize in their pocket.

The reason the odds are so much longer: Players now have more numbers to choose from. “I bought them both with the power play”, explained Ginger Hart of Ringtown.
“They buy tickets and one of them buy about $175”, said L & M Convenience Store Cashier Bill Ibrahim. So hopefully i’ll get some luck.
Any tickets purchased before 10:00 p.m. Wednesday have a chance-though very small-of winning.
In February 2015, a Texas group claimed about $127 million cash from a $564.1 million drawing.
“It is exciting to kick off the New Year in a big way with a big jackpot”, said Alice Garland, the lottery’s executive director.
Millie Stauffer made a promise to the cashier at Rentschler’s if she wins.
“You wouldn’t spend any of it up front?”
“I didn’t like it at all”, said Michael Tompkins of Pekin, “I didn’t think they could do it actually like that at all”.
“Oh gosh, we would have to have a winter home somewhere warm and tropical”, said Sherry McCoy of Des Moines, who is trying her luck for the first time Wednesday.

Marketwatch reports that ticket sales stop 59 minutes before the drawing, but may end earlier in some states.
