And this shop in Schuylkill County is already lucky; last weekend someone won $1 million after buying a ticket from the place.

Duane Kongshaug says, “I’d split it with my step kids, give them a million dollars, I can’t spend it all”.

It’s been more than five years since a Montanan won the Powerball.

The $500 million jackpot has been growing since the November 4, 2015, drawing. “I just want to see if I can win”, Foos said.

“I didn’t like it at all”, said Michael Tompkins of Pekin, “I didn’t think they could do it actually like that at all”.

Many people got off work Wednesday night and stopped by stores to pick up Powerball tickets.

Wednesday’s night lottery was the sixth-largest ever in North America and one local business is seeing a lot of folks out buying tickets due to its history of selling winning lottery tickets.

Since Powerball tickets went on sale here in 2006, four North Carolina players have beaten the odds to win jackpots of $74.5 million to $188 million.

“They’re buying 20 to 40 tickets at a time and they’ve never bought one before, but right now they are”. But Gov. Bruce Rauner signed a bill earlier this month authorizing the Illinois Lottery to resume all victor payouts. For $2 they took a chance in Saturday’s $334 million drawing that paid off. That was a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot won in March 2012. “As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, we’ve sold 140,000 tickets alone (statewide)”, Montana Lottery Communications Manager Jennifer McKee said.

The Powerball is played in 44 states as well as the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

The $500 million is an annuitized amount, so you won’t get all of that if you choose to get a lump sum payment.
