Lottery officials say a winning ticket for the 540 million dollar jackpot was sold in Indiana. That victor will take home $540 million or a one-time cash pay-out of $380 million – both before taxes.
It’s the seventh biggest prize in US lottery history, surpassing an August 2013 Powerball prize of $448.4 million.
Robert Williams, who works at the town’s National Road Antique Mall, said customers were excited Saturday about the news that the ticket was sold locally.
“An estimated $1 billion in tickets have been sold since the last jackpot-winning ticket was drawn in early March, making that the longest Mega Millions run without a victor”, USA Today reports. Each of those tickets are worth $1 million.
The winning Mega Millions numbers drawn Friday evening were 8, 19, 20, 55, and 73.

It was third largest Mega Millions prize ever and seventh largest lottery jackpot of all-time in the U.S. For Powerball, it’s one in roughly 292 million. That would make the July 8th drawing a three-time sweep, that is, of course, if the victor comes forward. The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since early March, when a Washington state man snagged $157 million with a winning ticket bought in Seattle.
