The victims included a 12-year-old boy, four men and one woman. “There are signs of trauma to the bodies”, Interim Supt. John Escalante said. Police said the bodies were found during a well-being check. They then discovered the six bodies in different locations inside the residence.

Authorities said they would provide more information at the scene Thursday afternoon. Escalante said that police had beefed up patrols in the area, but he did not believe there was any ongoing threat the surrounding community. A family friend said a mother and a father, perhaps in their 50s, live in the home. She had missed two days of work.

Police had few details about the victims, whose bodies were discovered around 1:05 p.m.at the single-family home in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood. Police are conducting a homicide investigation.
