Nigeria police “Two have been confirmed dead”. The militants came again and attack the community.

On their first invasion, 15 residents were feared killed by the militants.

According to a Vanguard report, militants swooped into the neighboring communities of Elepete and Igbo Olomu in the early hours of Thursday night, killing sores of residents believed to be landlords in the area.

Over 50 people were feared killed, while unspecified number also sustained varying degrees of injuries when gunmen suspected to be members of the restive Niger Delta militants late Thursday night invaded two Ogijo borderline communities of Ogun and Lagos states.

The attack is coming three days after a similar incident occurred in Ikorodu between suspected Ijaw militants and a local vigilante group.

Ilara in Ogijo, a community in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, is boiling as we speak.

We made bonfires in some areas and the militants, having sighted the fires, started shooting at anyone they saw.

Another resident, who pleaded anonymity, lamented the absence of security agencies in the area.

“They came out from the creek”.

“We are also working round the clock to stop the perpetrators from further terrorizing the people of these communities”, Lagos Commissioner of Police Fatai Owoseni, said.

Unlike the past when they operated only in the Niger Delta, the presence of the creek manors is felt in different communities in the south-west. Over 18 people were killed last night.

It was learnt that the vandals had accused the communities of giving information to security operatives about their illegal activities and were angry at the way joint security operatives took over the area, preventing them from carrying out their criminal activities. The source said community leaders were going round the communities in search of more victims. They were very many’. Though I am not a soldier, I could tell from the sound of their guns that they were holding sophisticated weapons. We want the Federal Government to know what is happening and provide enough security for us. I reside at Igbolomo but I have fled my home with my family.
