698 cases disposed at National Lok Adalat
Over 23,037 cases related to urban local bodies and gram panchayats were declared as pre-litigation cases and settled amicably.

A total 698 cases were disposed and settlement amount of Rs 1,10,28,557.45 (One crore ten lakhs twenty eight thousand five hundred fifty seven and forty five paise) was realized during the National Lok Adalat, which was successfully conducted in all the districts of Nagaland on December 12.
Besides, other cases related to Revenue, Sales and Income Tax, Service Matters and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act were also settled amicably. Mr. Gajarao Bhupal said there was a need to increase awareness on the effectiveness of Lok Adalat in settling more cases. Ajmal, the District Judge & Chairman Legal Services Authority, Rayagada. An amount of Rs 8.7 crore was deposited by the borrowers.
Senior Civil Judge and member secretary of District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) B Ganesh said 215 cases arising out of motor vehicle accidents were disposed and Rs 34,273,500 was released as compensation. Several cases related to financial institutions, matrimonial cases, MACT cases were settled.
As many as 3000 cases were taken up for hearing, out of which 2000 were amicably settled in todays NLAs held across the district. Lok Adalats held simultaneously in the District and Session Court alongwith lower courts have served panacea to the poor engrossed with petty litigations.

In civil cases, a compensation of more than Rs 30 lakh was awarded and Rs 15 lakh was also recovered on spot under MACT cases.
