August 15th is the most memorable day of Indian history. Philosophers have interpreted freedom in many ways, but we need to widen it, deepen it and cherish it. A conscious citizenship is only the guarantee.

It is a national celebration that is enjoyed in every corner of the country. The day is the result of fighting against British rule in India. The day will be declared as holiday. But as we celebrate our country’s birthday this week, kite string in one hand and ghevar in another, with the strains of Vande Mataram playing in the background, one can not overlook the throbbing thought – Are we really independent? Numerous freedom fighters has strived for Independence and achieved success at last on 15th August 1947. So, on this day we pay tribute to all those great people.
