The phone itself will be available in five colours with the existing rose gold, gold, and silver models as well as the introduction of dark black version and a piano black model. A new fifth color would be glossy piano black. Apple acquired Beats for $3 billion in 2014. This supports the year long rumor saying that the company is sacrificing the 3.5 mm jack to alter the phones’ design.

In response, Apple has ratcheted up research and development spending, which reached $8.1 billion in the year ended September 2015, from $2.4 billion in 2011.

Kuo predicts that a total of 60-65 million units (both units) will be sold until the end of the year. And Apple used to make iPhones in black, as recently as 2012 with the iPhone 5.
