73-year-old man snorts cocaine in front of officer during

According the SPD Blotter blog on the City of Seattle’s website, Officer Nic Abts-Olsen had pulled over a 73-year-old driver around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after seeing the vehicle go past without its headlights on.

The driver continues to plead his innocence, to which the exasperated officer responds: “I’m watching you do it!”

Abts-Olsen revealed to the man that, until he saw the cocaine, he was only going to give him a warning because of his clean driving record. “You’re about to snort coke on the side of the road?”

The back and forth continued with the driver at one point claiming that the powder was “vitamin pills that I take”.

Unfortunately for the arrestee, Officer Abts-Olsen was prepared to let him off with a warning-until he decided it was time for a 70s-style disco in his nostrils.

Officers arrested the man and booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of drug possession.

Seattle police say the driver finally confessed to possessing cocaine, complimented the officer on detecting the attempted coke-snorting in plain view, and admitted that he used bad judgment in trying to snort during a traffic stop.

Eventually the officer removes the driver from the auto and places him in handcuffs. In the video, the officer can be seen speaking to the man and telling him he doesn’t understand why he would do that right in front of a cop and it made no sense to him. “I just don’t understand”, a frustrated Abts-Olsen can be heard asking on his dashcam video.
