76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor involved in fight outside Boston club

Celebrity website TMZ released a video Thursday showing a man, later identified as the National Basketball Association newbie, punching a man on the face after a verbal tussle. “You’ll never win a game.’ I was around the corner when it happened”, the source said. “I saw him a minute after he knocked the dude out”, the source said. I’m just stating that after winning a lot of games (high school and college), this has to be a humbling and terrible experience for the rookie.

The hecklers allegedly shouted “the Sixers suck!” to Okafor to which the 19-year-old piped back “We got money you broke ass n**ga!”

“We are aware of the report and we are now working to gather additional information”, it said.

Are we suggesting that fans have the license to say whatever they want to professional athletes by virtue of the entertainer/entertained relationship? That’s a bad look for anyone, but especially for someone like Okafor who spends so much time in the public eye.

“We can’t put our head under a rug, and play holier than thou”, Sixers coach Brett Brown said of the situation.

Reports suggest that Philadelphia 76ers center was involved in a fight at a Boston nightclub late Wednesday night.

Friday, the BPD issued a statement that said a man walked into the police department Friday around 11 a.m. claiming to be the victim of assault and battery outside and filed a police report. The man said Okafor and another man approached his group and asked some of the women for their phone numbers.

As of Friday morning, Okafor was expected to participate in the Sixers’ shootaround and game later in the day against the Houston Rockets. I feel like we’re going to get it done.

Based on their sport science research, the Sixers chose to stay overnight in Boston instead of traveling to Texas immediately after the Celtics game.

On Friday, Okafor had to address the headlines and the video to the local media in Philadelphia.
