8 Found Dead Inside Harris County, Texas Home, Suspect Surrenders — Breaking News

Eight people, including five children, have been found dead inside a house in Texas, after a man was arrested, following a gun battle with police.

Authorities were responding to an active shooter call at a home on Falling Oaks Road Saturday night. He says deputies subsequently received information indicating that a man inside the home was wanted on an aggravated assault warrant.

KHOU reports that deputies spotted a juvenile’s body through a window as a SWAT team was being called to assist.

At that point, the sergeant and three deputies forced their way in, and the 49-year-old male suspect inside began shooting, the sheriff’s office says. Deputies pulled back and waited for the operations unit to arrive. Authorities went inside the home and found multiple victims.

According to the Houston Chronicle, negotiators were able to communicate with the suspect, who then surrendered about an hour later.

It was unclear how the gunman may have been related to the victims.

At this time they believe they are the bodies of give children and three adults.

It’s unclear how they were killed, whether they are related to one another or their ages and genders. “The medical examiner will have to determine a cause of death”. No further details were released.

The Houston sheriff’s spokesman said the unusual and grisly nature of the crime has led to concern about the well being of the department’s deputies.
