8 killed by angry mob in Zamfara over alleged blasphemy

President Muhammadu Buhari has on August 23, Tuesday, reacted to the killing of eight people in Zamfara state after a religious crisis that broke out at the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic in state.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the boy was said to have been beaten to a pulp by the mob, and the man, whose name was simply given as Tajudeen, took him in his vehicle and drove him to a hospital.
Zamfara State Police Spokesman, Shehu Mohammed, said the mob of Muslim students were enraged over alleged derogatory comments about the Prophet Mohammed by their Christian schoolmate, who they attacked. It is barbaric and unacceptable.
He was saved and rushed to the hospital by a man named Tajudeen.
The police have imposed a 12-hour curfew in the community, from 7p.m.to 7a.m. daily until further notice, with warning that anyone caught violating the order would be prosecuted. He took to his Twitter and penned some words assuring Nigerians that justice will be served to the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken out in disgust of the massacre.

It would be recalled that, On May 30, 2015 four persons were killed by a mob over allegation of blasphemy, including one Methodus Emmanuel, a 24-year-old trader based in Padongari and personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Niger State.
