A knifeman “referencing Allah” was shot dead by police after stabbing eight people in a shopping mall rampage.

The eight wounded were transported to St. Cloud Hospital but none were believed to have life-threatening injuries, said Chris Nelson, a communications specialist for the medical facility.
“What we know is it is a lone suspect who attacked at least eight people … whether that was a terrorist attack or not, I’m not willing to say that right now because we just don’t know”, Anderson said.
An off-duty police officer confronted and shot dead the suspected attacker, who wore a security uniform, in the city of St Cloud, Minnesota.
A police spokesman could not be reached for further details.
He attacked his victims at several sites in the shopping center, which will remained closed on Sunday as police investigate, the police chief said.
Witnesses said the man entered Crossroads Mall on Saturday night, made a reference to Allah and asked at least one person if they were Muslims before he attacked, police said in a statement. However, the police chief did not call the attack terrorism. “I thought someone tipped over a shelf”.

Sydney Weires, who had been shopping with two of her friends, told the St Cloud Times they had heard a loud scream before a security guard sprinted down the hallway, yelling: “Call the cops!”

“The entire mall is an active crime scene”, Anderson said. “They were screaming, ‘Someone’s stabbing people in the mall, ‘ and people were just really frantic and were running”.
