800-pound man says hospital kicked him out for ordering pizza
A Cranston man who weighs almost 800 pounds has been kicked out of a hospital for ordering pizza. “And it’s a disease”.

Assanti was getting the help he needed at Rhode Island Hospital and lost 20lbs.
He was down 20 pounds when temptation got the best of him.
But when he had the pizza delivered to his room on Tuesday, he violated the conditions of his stay and was promptly kicked out, he said.
Assanti explained that he was supposed to remain at the hospital until his weight dropped to 550 pounds, at which point he could undergo gastric bypass surgery.
His father says social workers are trying to arrange for Assanti to stay at Kent County Hospital through the weekend.
A hospital spokeswoman said Assanti was discharged, but she can’t comment further due to confidentiality laws.
His father Steven Veilette said he can’t take his son home – but has no idea what to do.
His father says the weight, however, is no longer a joke.
A spokesperson for Rhode Island Hopsital says they can not speak about Assanti or any patient’s treatment.
He said: “If he comes home and I do get him up the stairs somehow, someway he’s going to go right back to his eating habits”. “I called everybody, everybody you can think of”.

So the two men said they will continue to drive until they find a place that can help.
