Trump briefly met with veterans and police officers Tuesday afternoon during a campaign stop at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center in Milwaukee, including with Sheriff David Clarke and Sheriff’s Inspector Edward Bailey.
A Fox News representative would not elaborate on security for the event.
“The problem in our minority communities is not that there is too much police but that there is not enough police”, he said.
Trump also spoke more broadly about restoring “law and order”. He spoke before an nearly entirely white audience.
Clinton and her allies meanwhile have spent over $105 million since the conclusion of the Democratic primary on radio and television.
The number of likely voters who picked neither Clinton nor Trump in the poll was almost 24 percent.
Trump has caused divisions in the Republican Party with his strong anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim rhetoric, and faced criticism from both parties earlier this month for a days-long feud with the parents of a Muslim American Army captain killed in Iraq.
While guarding against complacency, Clinton is also preparing for a potential administration.
Trump, speaking from a teleprompter in West Bend, Wisconsin, said Democrats’ policies have failed blacks by worsening crime and poverty.
‘But the gun was pointed at his (a police officer’s) head supposedly ready to be fired. Who can have a problem with that?
