Anyone over the age of 25 can probably tell you where they were on this fateful date 15 years ago. One of the few positive legacies of that tragic day is that Americans developed a greater appreciation for emergency workers that has endured to this day.As powerful as the memories of 9/11 are for many of us, we’ve reached the point where there is an entire generation of Americans who either were not yet born or were too young to remember that day.
D’Amadeo blew a kiss and looked to the sky. “My wife and I lost everything”, Acquaviva said. People carried pictures of their loved ones who died in the attacks and placed flowers and American flags in the names inscribed into bronze panels edging the twin reflecting pools at the memorial site. American Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton are planning to mark the 15th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks by attending the official commemoration at ground zero.
Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill says in a statement Sunday that the former secretary of state attended the morning ceremony for 90 minutes “to pay her respects and greet some of the families of the fallen”.
In his weekly radio and internet address Saturday, Obama lauded the bravery of survivors, of emergency personnel who rushed to help victims and all others who have worked on keeping the country safe since the attacks.
“I will keep coming as long as I am walking and breathing”, Cava said, wearing a T-shirt with a photo of her slain sister, Grace Susca Galante. We recall the Fredericksburg-area churches that sent mission teams to NY to help victims clean up, rebuild and restore life there. And I am mindful that no words we offer or deeds we do can ever truly erase the pain of their absence. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you.
Obama said the “3,000 lovely lives” lost that day will never be forgotten.
Ahead of the anniversary, President Obama said it was important to remember America’s “core values”.
The plane crashed in a field in Shanksville, killing everyone aboard.
One of the hijacked planes crashed outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania, apparently forced down by the terrorists short of their intended target after the passengers and crew fought back.
The attacks killed 2,753 people in NY, 184 at the Pentagon and 40 on Flight 93 – which was headed toward the United States capital until passengers and crew staged a rebellion and the hijackers crashed it.
