“With the permission of the family, and with much sorrow and a very broken heart, I regretfully inform everyone that Kaiser Carlile passed away earlier this evening”, the team wrote in statement on Facebook.

“He was a part of the team”, club president Nathan McCaffrey told CNN.

“They were talking about what there team was going to do, put KC on everything and maybe even wear bracelets so that’s what we planned on doing”, said Jones.

The player has not been identified.

Home-plate umpire Mark Goldfeder, a longtime paramedic, treated Kaiser until the ambulance arrived.

Luckily, an EMT crew was already at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, treating a woman who was suffering from dizzy spells.

“Just to see him fall, that’s what crushes you”, said McCaffrey. “He got back up, but he went right back down again”.

Players from both teams knelt in circles in prayer when it became apparent that the injury was serious.

“I have heard he is still hanging in there”, McCaffrey said, adding that it is, “understandable not to want to have 25 guys there when it is so emotional”.

Apparently, one of the team’s batters accidentally made contact with Carlile’s helmet as he was retrieving a bat.

There has also been an outpouring of support for Kaiser on social media.
