A 91-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after shooting and threatening to kill gardners because he had grass clippings on his auto .
A 91-year-old Florida man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly opened fire on landscapers who accidentally got lawn clippings on his caregiver’s auto , police said.
Once deputies arrived at 2830 Palo Verde Drive, Avon Park, and took management of the state of affairs, it was discovered by means of investigation that Horton, 91 years previous, had turn into enraged over grass clippings, which had been accidently blown onto a auto . A short time later, Horton, the report said, called Hendrix over to his driveway.
An argument between the pair turned violent when Horton allegedly pulled out a handgun, ordered Hendrix to get on his knees and told him he was going to kill him. The landscaper, Robert Hendrix, says he has known Horton for 14 years and apologized.
That’s when Hendrix’s partner interfered and started running around Hendrix to distract the gunman, who fired at least one shot which didn’t hit anyone. As Horton diverted his attention towards Barns, Hendrix who told detectives he was in fear for his life, reached up and was able to disarm Horton. Some said he would often “flip out” or “get angry for no reason”. Hendrix could not be taken to Florida Hospital because he had previously made verbal threats to staff members in September 2013, telling them he had a gun in his vehicle and they would be sorry if he went to get it.
