Kaiser’s father, Chad Carlile, said that while there “might be a better way of doing things”, he thinks the bat boy tradition should continue because it’s “tremendous for kids”.
Kaiser, a batboy for the Bee Jays, was struck in the head Saturday during a National Baseball Congress World Series game against the San Diego Waves.
Carlile’s team, the Liberal Bee Jays, indicated on Twitter Wednesday there were problems with a GoFundMe page for his family. The 17-year-old said he was scared when he learned the news of Kaiser Carlile’s death.
Two heart-shaped signs with Kaiser’s initials “KC” were placed on the backstop near both dugouts as well as on the scoreboard.
According to the Wichita Eagle, Keirsie Carlile received a standing ovation after she opened the game against the Seattle Studs.
The Bee Jays still can win the NBC World Series title.
“He was our teammate”, added pitcher Kadon Simmons. “Without him, no one would run; we’d have no energy”. “He was the spark plug, like they say, for the team”, said Carlile, who wants his son remembered for how the boy lived rather than how he died.

“There is no anger about what happened”, he said. According to the grieving parent, it was a freak accident and “you can’t change it”.
