93-year-old ‘Britannia’ owner meets royal couple Will and Kate
Boman is among many royal well-wishers who want to meet the couple, but it was the way he went about it that made the whole world support his dream.

Supporters of Mr Kohinoor used the hashtag #WillKatMeetMe to encourage the royal couple to meet their super-fan after he appeared in the touching video.
The William and Kate cut-out was given to the old fan by some British tourists. It’s sinful Berry Pulao (though we prefer the keema salli there), the personal touch of being served by 3 generations of the owner’s family (including the cat who sits on the cash counter as if it were a throne) and the owner’s love for British Royalty.
The family-run Britannia restaurant is a Mumbai landmark, and is famous for being one of the city’s surviving Irani and Parsi cafes.
All Boman Kohinoor, the 93-year-old owner of Mumbai’s iconic Britannia restaurant, wanted was to meet Prince William and Kate Middleton when they stopped by Mumbai on their first ever visit to India.
William and Kate invited Boman Kohinoor to their hotel and he chatted to them about one of his signature dishes – berry pulao. Not only does his restaurant have a large frame photograph of Queen Elizabeth II, he also boasts of a letter he received from Buckingham Palace.
The dream was partially fulfilled as he finally met the British Royal family here last evening. Among his prized possessions are a letter and photos sent by the queen in response to a note he sent inviting her to visit Mumbai and his restaurant.
The huge cardboard cut-outs of William and Kate that adorn his restaurant reflect a lifetime of devotion. I do not know what their itinerary might be, but if they have heard about us and they would like to visit us, they are most welcome’. I said no, but I serve my customers well.

“Give my love to the Queen, and to [your] children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, too”, added the kind man. I wish I had more time to speak, but I’m thankful for this opportunity.
