When Oculus VR and Samsung announced the consumer Gear VR at Oculus Connect in September, they promised that it would arrive before the Black Friday shopping frenzy begins.
“Samsung is leveraging its leadership in mobile, by giving millions of Samsung Galaxy smartphone owners’ access to wonderful virtual reality experiences including immersive games, the ability to explore attractive photographs and exciting videos in 360 degrees, and much more”, said Nick DiCarlo, vice president, Immersive Products and Virtual Reality at Samsung Electronics America.
The kit, which was developed with VR company Oculus, comes bundled with apps including a virtual reality version of Netflix.
Samsung is also equipping every Gear VR with a 16GB microSD card loaded with 360-degree videos and 3D movie trailers.
The Gear VR will retail for $99.99 as early as November 20. Well, the Oculus Store just released multiple games supported by the Gear VR headset. It also should be more comfortable to wear, as it boasts “improved ergonomics”, while a redesigned touchpad should help with navigation.

Users of the Samsung smartphones listed above will be able to plug their device into the Gear VR and strap the headset over their eyes to enter the virtual reality universe, as presented by Oculus and Samsung.
