Steelers put Pouncey on Designated to Return list

But Pittsburgh Steelers still have wide receivers and return specialists Antonio Brown Markus Wheaton, as well as tight end Heath Miller and linebacker Vince Williams, who signed a two-year contract deal.

Doug Legursky’s return to the Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t last long. That leaves him ineligible to play for the first eight weeks of the regular season and the Steelers don’t have their bye until Week 11, so it may be Week 12 in Seattle when we next see Pouncey on the field.

Pouncey fractured his left fibula in the third preseason game against the Packers and had surgery to fix the injury. “Because we have running back Ben Roethlisberger, the best quarterback in the world”, running back DeAngelo Williams said on Sunday.

Legursky spent the 2013 season with the Buffalo Bills and 2014 with the San Diego Chargers. Last season, he rushed for 186 yards and averaged 5.8 yards per carry.

The Steelers also claimed defensive end Caushaud Lyons, who was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Steelers have made several roster moves, trimming their roster to the league-mandated 53 players prior to today’s 4 p.m. deadline, the team announced. With interior line depth desperately thin heading into the season opener against the New England Patriots, adding Legursky will provide some of that much needed depth. A former defensive tackle, the 5-foot-11, 245-pound Nix began training camp as a roster filler before winning the staff over with his relentless play, a valuable character trait for a team hoping to give special teams ace Robert Golden a running mate.
