Karim Benzema ‘happy’ at Real following Arsenal rumours

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has insisted that he had no intention of leaving the Spanish giants despite rumours linking him with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu over the summer.

Benzema was constantly linked to the Gunners throughout the summer, with Arsene Wenger continually fielding questions over a potential move for the French striker.

Benzema told Telefoot: “There was nothing in the talk of a transfer away from Madrid”.

“I’m not going to repeat myself every time”.

“I will keep on working hard to make sure I am happy here.”

Real’s number nine missed Los Blancos’ opening day draw against Sporting Gijon due to a thigh injury sustained during pre-season, but marked his return last week with a goal during Real’s thumping 5-0 victory over Real Betis.
