Amir Khan may get crack at Pacquiao – Arum

Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum said his prized fighter is eyeing the presidency after he retires from boxing.

The prevailing belief is that the harsh words between Mayweather and Pacquiao since their fight will lead to a rematch once the Manny’s shoulder is fully healed, despite how much of a disappointment the first one was. “Better not to react to that”, he told reporters.

The 83-year-old Arum sees the greatest Filipino boxer of all-time still fighting by next year, but could finally call it quits once he is elected to a higher office in the Philippines.

Pacquiao, who has won eight world championships in different weight divisions, has previously parlayed his boxing fame into a career in showbiz and election as a congressman.

Pacquiao is 36 years old and, even before the Mayweather fight, looked diminished in the ring compared to his prime years. Two years ago I would have said that a fight between me and any Top Rank fighter is impossible, but ever since the Mayweather and Pacquiao fight got made, I feel like any fight can get made now.

The Filipino southpaw admitted after the bout that he hurt his right shoulder during the course of the fight, an injury that necessitated surgery later on and forced him to be out of the ring for the rest of the year.

“I definitely think that it’s a record that needs to be broken. Pacquiao is the last thing in the world Floyd should be thinking about”. I’m not going to mess them around. You can’t be ready when you don’t feel good.
