A fresh document out of your Syrian Observatory for Human Rights now reports that in fact representing within the Homs Province has rendered ISIS in charge of the Jazal oilfield, the last arena which generally had remain been beneath Syrian federal influence. Syria-based activist Bebars al-Talawy said via Skype that IS fighters first attacked army posts around the Jazal field then stormed it.

Rebel sources said: “The regime has lost the last oilfield in Syria”.

The Observatory reported late on Monday that clashes continued in the Jazal oil field and the surrounding area. Other large oil fields are located farther north in Hasakah near Qamishli along the Turkish border, where the facilities seem to be jointly managed by Syrian authorities – who continue to pay workers’ salaries – and the Kurdish YPG forces, who help defend the fields.

The Observatory said ISIS had also seized the town of Jazal by the oilfield, and the jihadist group issued a statement on social media claiming to have “liberated” the town.
