Clemson University, which reached its goal of becoming a Top 20 public college past year, slipped one place to 21st in the latest rankings.
“Vanderbilt’s deeply held commitment to serving society through education, research and service has positioned the university among our nation’s best”, said Vanderbilt Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos. “We are pleased that industry continues to recognize the value that MSU adds to the delivery of supply chain excellence”. Harvard University and Yale University finished second and third, with three schools-Columbia University, Stanford University and the University of Chicago-tied for fourth.
The U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges package represents the most comprehensive look at how more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools compare on a set of 15 widely accepted indicators of excellence.
Some important data points are how well the institution retains and graduates students, the boost in expected earnings, the percentage of full-time teachers and the average student loan default rate. Vanderbilt was No. 12 on this list.
Louisiana Tech, along with Tulane University and Louisiana State University, were the only institutions in the state to achieve a Tier One National Universities designation.
Vanderbilt was also on the list of economically diverse schools, with U.S. News & World Report noting that 14 percent of its undergraduates received Pell grants.
