Volt deliveries have fallen even more sharply ahead of the launch of the next-gen auto, which GM says will get an EPA-rated 53 miles in electric mode on a single charge – up from 38 miles for the current generation.

The 2016 Chevrolet Volt will be better than the previous generation Volt in every way – from the electric range to fuel economy when running on the gasoline engine to overall range – all of which should lead to improved sales as the 2016 Volt will “fit” into the daily driving routines of more Americans. Mind you, I’m not saying that the 2016 Volt will arrive in those 11 states first followed by a full rollout in the other 39 states.
He added: “We’re getting great reception to the range of the 2016 Volt”. GM sold 8,315 Volts through the end of August.
Production for California buyers began last month, while the other states on the short list reportedly won’t begin receiving allocations until late October or later.
The Detroit News reported the Volt strategy earlier Tuesday.
The 2016 model will also have a limited distribution network. The 2016 version, which is beginning its production run in Michigan, will be sent to the handful of states.

The redesigned Volt will be offered for a shortened 2016 model year starting this fall in California, Oregon, parts of the Northeast and some other markets, GM spokesman Mike Albano said. “The 2017 Chevrolet Volt will begin production early this spring and will be available throughout the country”.
