Hugh Jackman would “seriously consider” playing Bond if asked

Rounding up the top 10 actors who made it to the James Bond survey are Michael Fassbender, Richard Armitage, Orlando Bloom, Dougray Scott, Rupert Friend and Elba’s The Wire co-star Dominic West.

The show’s hosts asked the Australian actor, who’s probably best known for playing Wolverine in the X-Men movies, his thoughts about taking on the 007 franchise.

Hugh Jackman is leaving an iconic role behind.

Daniel Craig, 47, will make his fourth appearance as Bond in this year’s Spectre, which is set for release in United Kingdom cinemas on October 26 before opening worldwide on November 6. He also added, “I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit”. He’s starred in blockbusters like The Dark Knight Rises and Inception, and polished up his action resumé with the summer smash Mad Max – which gave him experience that would serve him well in the role of Bond. I don’t think Barbara [Broccoli, producer] would allow a gay Bond to happen in her lifetime.

Fans took to Twitter to express their support for Beckham to replace 47-year-old Craig when he eventually decides to retire, with one claiming it would be good to “finally have a decent James Bond after Pierce Brosnan“.

With the subject of new actor to play the next Bond movie, Anthony Horowitz, a Bond novelist, said that Idris Elba will not be a flawless fit for the role as he is “too street” to be drinking martini and drive an Aston Martin vehicle. “I’d seriously consider it.”

In what some have interpreted as a sarcastic riposte to Horowitz’s original comment, Elba posted a remark on his Instagram page, next to a screen grab of the Daily Mail article: “Always keep smiling!! Learned that from the Street!!” By the time Jackman would play Bond – if he were chosen – he would be pushing 50.

Mendes has said Spectre will likely be his last Bond film, and Craig has suggested he might be on his way out as well.
