New Skype for Android Users
Skype is very popular software from Microsoft that is being used by people around the world on their computers for years. It is a program that allows users to make voice over internet protocol calls for free so anyone can talk as much as he desires with his friend or relative living in another part of the world. The company has recently reached a milestone of 100 million downloads for Android mobile users. To celebrate this milestone in style, Microsoft has launched a redesigned and revamped app of Skype for Android users.

The newly launched Skype app for Google’s Android 4.0 OS has a better and smoother UI that makes sure that your interactions with friends and relatives are easier and more effective. The new UI gets rid of all the clutter and instead presents a list of your recent conversations, your favorite contacts, and all contacts to make it easier for you. What this means is that you get the same good old Skype minus all the crap that seemed to choke the users in its old avatar. Your friend list now has small circles carrying the photos of friends to make it look modern and similar to the contact list presented by Facebook.
As you start the new Skype app on your Android phone, it flashes your recent conversations. You can look at the messages and simply tap on any of them to start a new conversation by sending a message. You can either tap or swipe over any of the contacts to start a conversation. From here on, you are free to choose from any of the several options of making voice calls, video calls, or simply a text message. All it takes a tap of your finger to follow your command. There is a lot you can do with the new Skype for Android such as
- Send IM’s to friends and relatives
- Make free video calls if using a 3G connection
- Send text message to mobiles and fixed line phones at ultra low costs
- Make cheap calls to mobile numbers and landline phones across the world
- Send and receive files containing text, photos, and videos for free
- You can send a video message that you can see and hear like a chat
Making a call using the new Skype app for Android users is very simple. All you do is to select the friend or relative you want to talk to by just tapping on his or her photo and then tap on the make a call icon. To send a message, tap on the message icon and then select the friends you want to send the message. Type the message and send or you can attach photos and other files to your message if you so desire.
Logging out of the new Skype is also simple. Just tap on your own photo, tap on the menu icon and finally tap on sign out option to log out of your Skype account.
