Barnett – Bale was never leaving
He says Bale has every chance of landing the elusive award since he believes playing for the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona increases the chances of winning it.

SUGGESTIONS that Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale was close to joining Manchester United this summer were scotched yesterday by the player’s agent. And I think that is going to suit him more.
United were linked with Bale, who joined Real from Tottenham for a world record £83.5m in 2013, although the man who brokered that deal claimed the notion of Bale moving to Old Trafford was pure fantasy. He wants to win everything and he’s very hungry to win everything.
“He has come nowhere near being transferred in the past few months”, Barnett said.
He added: “I am biased but I think in the next two or three years he will be seen as the best player in the world”.
That led to conspiracy theories suggesting Real had done it on objective in order to sign the goalkeeper for free when his contract expires next summer but Barnett thinks there is a move obvious explanation. A formation change involving Gareth Bale has pushed the Portuguese star out wide, limiting his quality looks at the net.
Barnett and other agents on a panel at the convention also defended the role of the much-criticised intermediaries. And I think that is going to suit him more. “And when he did get it, it was slow”. “It is because the fans love Ronaldo“, he said. If you watch the way Real Madrid play this season you’ll see a shift.
It’s a worst case scenario for any club that owns a Spanish player, knowing that Barceloa and Real Madrid hold a unique sway that can rarely be held at bay. “And as long as he scores the goals and the team does well it is easier to accept”, he said.
