According to the report, the team was celebrating the win and to celebrate they brought some watermelons – which they had decided to smash over their heads.

However, everything became wrong – when eating watermelon after games was branded ‘inappropriate’ and ‘racist’ by the opposite team’s parents.

The coach, Bud Walpole, was coach of the Academic Magnet Raptors football team for 10 years and now he got dismissed from his job, after branding his idea of celebration as ‘racist’.

An opposite team’s parent said that standing in a circle, smashing a watermelon and eating it was discriminatory because the ‘animalistic, monkey-like’ whooping they made had racial undertones.

Later, Mr. Walpole was reinstated after a petition by parents and players.
