After stuffing his pockets with an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled, got into the driver’s seat of a red Hyundai Genesis waiting outside and took off. Alford said the man’s 19-year-old daughter was in the passenger seat.
Johnson County Emergency Management says a bank robbery suspect out of Grandview led police and deputies on a high speed chase Thursday afternoon that ended in Mansfield.
Guised in a hat and a bandana, the 41-year-old allegedly pulled a handgun on a teller and demanded cash.
Authorities say at one point during the chase bailey reached speeds of about 150 miles an hour. She talked to police after they were caught.
The auto was registered to an owner in Mansfield, the sheriff said.
At 12:39 p.m., the vehicle crashed into trees on Davis Street in Mansfield.
Mr Bailey is facing charges of aggravated bank robbery and evading arrest. His bail has been set at $510,000.
The folks who live out in this quiet neighborhood tell me they know Mike Bailey and his family very well. Both father and daughter were being held in the Johnson County Jail.
Cops and sheriff’s deputies swarmed the wrecked vehicle and took the Baileys into custody after a brief struggle. They, as well as the neighbor, say Michael Bailey was a disabled Army veteran, suffering from PTSD after serving in Afghanistan.
