Fiat Chrysler announces three recalls affecting more than 1.7 million trucks
AUBURN HILLS, Michigan- Fiat-Chrysler is recalled an estimated 156,498 heavy-duty Ram trucks in the USA, including the 2014 Ram 2500 and 3500, because some steering components may have welds with insufficient fusion, the automaker said on Thursday. These trucks are being recalled to make an adjustment to the side-curtain air bags in order to reduce the risk of passengers in the back seat being ejected during a rollover.

Customers may also call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.
In some affected trucks, an air bag warning light will come on before there’s a problem. At this point, the company said there has been no injury or accident reported involving this particular issue.
Repairs to recalled vehicles will not cost the owners.
Italian-American automaker Fiat Chrysler is recalling over 1.7 million trucks in three separate recalls to correct problems with the flawed airbags and welds in the steering system. However, it said no crashes were linked to the problem.
Also a part of the recall are almost 200,000 Ram trucks that Fiat Chrysler says need a part replaced connected to the truck’s steering ability. Some 2014 Ram 1500 pickups in Mexico are included in the recall.
A second notice will ask owners who didn’t have their brackets repaired during the first phase to take their trucks to a Ram dealer, who will install a reinforcement bracket. The 2014 Ram 1500, for instance, has been recalled nine times.

In July, FCA agreed to pay a $105 million civil penalty for “issues with Fiat Chrysler’s execution of 23 vehicle security recollects overlaying greater than 11 million faulty automobiles,”.
